Maharashtra Legislative Assembly 2014 elections live updates and results

A legislative assembly election will be held on 15 October 2014, in a single phase, to select the 288 members of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in India. The results will be announced on 19 October.

Seats: 288

Total Candidates:  4,119 (3,843 men and  276 women, including 1,699 independent candidates)

Candidates filed by major parties: Congress: 287, BJP: 280, Shiv Sena: 282, NCP: 278, MNS: 219, BSP: 260, CPI: 34 and CPM: 19

Voters: 8.25 crore (4,40,26,401men, 3,93,63,011 women,  984 voters in the "others" category and 1,47,718 service voters)

Polling stations: 91,376

Prominent candidates: Former Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and former ministers R R Patil and Chhagan Bhujbal of NCP, Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Khadse, Vinod Tawde and Pankaja Munde of BJP, Subhash Desai, Suresh Jain and Deepak Kesarkar of Shiv Sena, former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, former ministers Patangrao Kadam, Shivajirao Moghe and Rajendra Darda of Congress and Bala Nandgaonkar of MNS.


For the 288 seats of assembly 4119 candidates are in the fray. The voting was conducted on 91327 polling centers. The state has 8,33,93043 voters and it registered a turnout of  63.4 per cent.
